JAMIE LASH – CHRIST OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS

Prov. 3:5 – 6 “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.”

Four Ways We Rely On Sources Other Than God’s Word.  We Rely On….

  1. Our own understanding, like Sarai about having a baby (Gen 18);
  2. Our own feelings:
  3. Our own observation of the facts, of reality in front of us:
  4. The words of others, so often deceptive or misguided.

WHERE GOD SPEAKS, AS IN HIS WORD, WE MUST TRUST ONLY HIM.

Believe absolutely His Word.  “The truth will make you free.”  Jn 8:32.

John 3:14 – 15   “And Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in him may have eternal life.”  In Numbers 21, Moses was told to have the people construct this serpent in the wilderness, and they could look to it, and live.  God told Hezekiah to destroy it because people were worshiping it.  2 Cor. 5:21  “For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”  Jesus becomes sin: He becomes the serpent for us, that we might look to Him, and live.  We become the opposite: we become righteous, with His righteousness.

DO YOU BELIEVE GOD’S WORD,
THAT YOU HAVE BECOME HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS?
